“We trust Kenny.” Famous last words. Holland was a great GM when he had an owner with the deepest pockets in the league, a Jones to win and no constraints on how much he was willing to spend. When that dried up, so did Kenny and so did the Wings.

I think this comment is proof positive that if you repeat a lie long enough, you start to believe it to be true.

Holland doesn’t have much cap space and knows his team is missing parts for a Cup run. If adding a veteran minimum guy gets them even 1 regular season GWG then he will have done his job.
The Oilers are no longer kids (McDavid turned 25 today), Draisaitl’s 26, Turris 32, and Keith is 38 so worrying about the locker room is a bit over-stated (especially when Kane might be on his last chance).
I think this would be the ultimate low risk/ high reward move given their cap situation. The only reason not to would be if you could obtain a quality back-up goalie instead.

Oh yeah? Chew on this. Keep Johann Franzen and let Marian Hossa walk.

What was the outcome for the Red Wings in the two seasons prior to letting Hossa walk?
We all know the answer. Holland ruined this franchise, but the salary cap wasnt the main cause. The years directly after the cap was implemented cause a shift in philosphy. And in just a few years after, one of the greatest possession teams of all time was crafted.

Not being able to free agent your way out of problems was a symptom of a larger problem: poor drafting and developing.

That was darn painful. I loved Tippet’s response at the 2:50 mark.
Do these media members all meet prior to a presser and pick one topic that they want to beat into the ground?

Good lord, those reporters are horrible. Tippet and McDavid handled that so diplomatically.
