from Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette,
The Penguins’ past five games have all been decided by one goal.
They’ve won one of them and have lost their past three.
Thursday’s 2-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena was probably especially tough to take because ex-Penguin Marc-Andre Fleury was terrific against his former team, but there are bigger issues at hand with the Penguins these days.
“When it’s going like this, it seems like you’re finding ways to lose instead of win,” Sidney Crosby said. “We have to find a way to win a game in a close one like we’ve had here in the last couple, try to find a way to get some momentum.”...
General manager Jim Rutherford essentially called out his players on Wednesday, saying he was disappointed in the recent 2-3-0 homestand and something needed to change, otherwise he would seek a shakeup.
Tough to imagine Rutherford like what he saw in this one.
The Penguins are playing well enough to be competitive, but they seem to lack any discernible oomph — or “juice” as Sullivan might say.
