Shanny getting playoff experience and grit.  It feels like he’s done waiting.

Well it seems like some of the GMs are getting their heads together and cooking up some of these salary sharing deals for teams that are up against the cap.  I wouldn’t be surprised if 4 or 5 teams get involved.  Its a kingmaker philosophy,  reputation goes a long way here.  So friendly team GMs can elevate a team in this free agent market.  Example, in our division, Tampa and Florida are both strong add in Carolina,  the friendly play along team is going to get resources.  So a guy like Yzerman who has a great reputation,  and good rapport of not stealing teams blind can funnel players not even on our team to pay salaries for draft choices.  I see the strategy, modern day business.

Don’t know if anyone saw Jarmo getting
two firsts and a third and a fourth for Savard
and Foligno. Both players are beloved in Columbus,
but I think any knowledgeable fan would have seen it as malpractice
if the team didn’t get full value now. Only teams who think they’re one player away trade a first like this for other than stars, and most such teams have no cap room.

Foligno could actually re-sign in Columbus.

These conduit deals are huge for teams that had no cap room
to acquire impact players.

Hopefully with one more contract retention move we
see SY with an even bigger one before tomorrow,
whether it’s our player or a pass-through.
