via TSN,
The trial for Buffalo Sabres’ forward Ryan O'Reilly was scheduled to start in London, Ontario on Monday, but the case was dropped by the Crown.
The Crown stated at the London Court House on Monday that there was, "no reasonable prospect for conviction," and therefore dropped the case.
O'Reilly was facing impaired driving charges after police said his green Chevrolet pickup truck ran into a Tim Hortons on the morning of July 9, 2015. O'Reilly was also facing a charge of failure to remain at the scene.
added 12:25pm, from Gene Warner of the Buffalo News,
Buffalo Sabres center Ryan O’Reilly has been acquitted of all charges after a trial that lasted roughly an hour and a half Monday morning in London, Ont.
“Not guilty! We’re done,” reporter Jane Sims of the London Free Press tweeted from inside the court at about 11:45 a.m., during the trial that began one year after O’Reilly was accused of slamming his pickup truck into a Tim Hortons cafe in London, Ont.
One minute earlier, Sims had tweeted, “No reasonable prospect of conviction. No more evidence.”
Problems for the prosecution arose when the only identification witness, Mary Smith, apparently testified on cross-examination that she didn’t see anyone in the truck after the crash.

Doesn’t Tim Hortons have a load of video cameras throughout the property to keep an eye on the Tim Bits???

And the justice system fails again.
It’s obviously not just an American thing.
“Look… if you do something bad, flee the scene, because that might get you off on a technicality”. *sigh*
