Uh yeah, good luck with a disgruntled captain that has doctors telling him the team is looking out for someone other than himself come training camp.

Watch how many “injuries” he can’t play through.

The Sabres are obviously going to screw this up even worse than they already have. The owners are the real problem.

What a mess. Yeah, technically. But not in reality. Good luck with that.

Ahh.  The Sabres.  The sad gift that keeps on giving.

The first sign that someone isn’t in control is then coming out in public and reminding everyone they’re in control.

Eichel has ALL of the power here.

Exactly, @Beantown:

He sounds desperate.

There is pressure for a huge return.
Teams have concerns. The player and his camp
seem beyond restless…

Technically having Eichel under contract and having leverage to get a good return
are not the same things.

I would be so embarrassed if my favorite team did business this way. Actually, no I wouldn’t. Because they wouldn’t be my team anymore.

c’mon kev, you gotta add ‘or else’  when you make those empty threats.

How low does the price need to get before we start thinking Yzerman should give Kevyn a call?

Raymond and a 1st is probably too much.

Veleno and a 1st?

Raymond and a 2nd?

Veleno and a 2nd?

a 2nd and two 3rds?

If it was only the acquisition cost, it would be much easier and a trade probably would have been completed by some team by now.

However, you add in the $10M/yr commitment for 5 more years plus the injury issue and it becomes a whole lot more complicated.

Unless the trade has conditionals based on playing time, I prefer the Wings stay away.

Only the injury is a concern.  $10M/year is trivial if he’s still Jack Eichel—he’ll only be 29 at the end of that term.

I wouldn’t want him on my team. Talented yes, but a whiner and no leadership qualities. Not worth the money.
