George Malik undoubtedly watched last night's game, then probably spent three hours compiling his Wings/Poultry late-game post, plus a few other posts that came before it. I did nothing. I watched, "Brave" with my daughter, kept track of the game on my phone and laughed after every Abdelkader goal.

Then I went to bed and now I'm going to comment on a few stories George found and posted. I'm not going to link to them because George already has, and--yes--I just don't feel like finding the actual links.

George: on behalf of all of us, thanks for what you do. I may not agree with every pro-organ-I-zation stance you take, but we're all better Wing fans for your efforts. I'm serious.

Fox Sports fired Larry Murphy last week. What. The. Fuch?

Look. We've absolutely lambasted 55 for years. We have. But it's been in good fun. At no point have we ever said Murph lacks hockey knowledge. He's a shit-ton smarter about this game than any of us (except for HockeyinHD) and he seemed to be a good guy we can all relate to. He, OBVIOUSLY, liked his pops, his hot dogs, his Wings...it's sad. Unless there was something there that we're not privy (I said "privy") to? This is some bullshit. Apparently, according to Khan(!), it's a ratings thing?

Really? Hmmm. What else could account for shitty ratings on FSD? How about mediocre play from the Wings? How about a lockout still souring a knowledgable fan base who know when they're being bent over? How about a number of other FSD "personalities" who are without, I don't know, personality? Darren Elliott did you cough? Because that's more interesting than 98 percent of what you've told us this year.

Murphy, Ken Daniels and our saviour, Mickey Redmond, had real chemistry and it was fun to listen to.

Ratings, eh? BULLSHIT. Bad move, Fox.

This pisses me off. This quote from Murph.

“I haven't decided what I want to do,'' he said. “I envisioned myself being here for a long period of time. This is a curveball.

“I'd like to stay in the industry, but I'm not sure if I want to move. I enjoy living in Detroit.''

That's a Michigan guy, Fox. He "enjoys living in Detroit." He loves the Wings. He loves our city and he's a good guy we all enjoy. And you shitcan him. Who else is getting "furloughed", eh Fox? Any marketing people? Any producers? No?

Ridiculous. Don't we have enough firings in the state of Michigan? Wing fans enjoy Larry Murphy. We like kidding him. We like listening to him. We relate to him and he's a reminder of some damn good days with some great hockey.

Justin Abelkader scored three goals last night in Anaheim. That's called a hat trick. Trevor Thompson told me so. Maybe John Keating, or Jennifer Hammond. Maybe it was Elliott. I don't remember. But it was someone smart and someone employed who fed me that nugget.

Yes. A hat trick. After weeks, months, of abuse from me and you and thousands. Good for him. Maybe Uncle Mike's been smarter than we gave him credit for. Maybe he's seen this coming, anticipated it. It's possible.

Or it's blind luck and some kind of wack reward from baby Jesus for sticking to his principles. I don't know. But we'll take it. Good for him, good for Home Keys. Joy to us all.
