via NHL.com,

Season series: The Detroit Red Wings are going for a two-game sweep of the Dallas Stars. Darren Helm scored twice, and Jimmy Howard made 22 saves to help Detroit defeat Dallas in early December.

Red Wings team scope: This is the second of a grueling six-game road trip for Detroit, which plays its next three games in California, beginning Monday against the Anaheim Ducks. The Red Wings got off to a successful start Wednesday by defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in a shootout. Detroit recalled defenseman Jakub Kindl from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League, where he was halfway through a four-game conditioning assignment, after defenseman Kyle Quincey left practice Friday with an undisclosed leg injury. Quincey's status will be re-evaluated after the morning skate in Dallas.

Stars team scope: Dallas held an optional practice Friday. One of the participants was forward Ales Hemsky, who has missed the past three games with a lower-body injury. Coach Lindy Ruff said Hemsky will likely return Saturday. He also said forward Brendan Ranford, who made his NHL debut Thursday in a 5-2 home loss to the San Jose Sharks, will stay with the Stars through a two-game trip that begins Sunday at the Minnesota Wild. One player who won't be making the trip is first-line center Tyler Seguin, who sustained a knee injury Feb. 13 and is expected to miss 3-6 weeks. “OK,” Seguin said Friday when asked how he's feeling. "It’s more spiritually right now, trying to stay positive. It’s very frustrating. It's weird watching games. I’ve really never missed time during the season for injuries." Dallas will be trying to end a five-game losing streak to Detroit at American Airlines Center, where the Red Wings haven't lost since Oct. 14, 2010.
