GDT - Game #69: Red Wings at Blues (8:00)

03/12/2011 at 1:09pm EST

Beware the Ides of March. DET (40-20-8), snapped a winless March (0-2-2), and a three game home losing streak, in dramatic fashion for the “19” last night at the JLA. Jimmah was brilliant (26-27, 0.962). The Lizard King ties the game at 19:35 of the third, and Magically Delicious finishes it in OT.

DET are almost a lock for the playoffs, needing to earn only 29% of their remaining 28 points to reach 96 for the season. The Wings maintain a somewhat comfortable 7 point Central Division lead over the hard-charging ‘Hawks (8-1-1 in last 10). It is the SJS who carry the long-knives; (8-1-1 in last 10), they are only 3 points behind DET for the 2nd in the West.

DET needs to “find their game,” and their confidence in a hurry. What better place than at the BBB;s? For STL, they are playing out the string (they would need to win 89% of their remaining points to reach 96), but are winners of their past three contests.

Game On(!), bitches.

On a personal note, I apologize for my hiatus. Jeff Jr. had only one week of time off before his pre-deployment to Afghanistan. We were able to spend some time together, including the Griffins at OKC last night. Wally’s brother, Ilari Filppula, was nice enough to take a few minutes with Jr.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
