Detroit Red Wings vs. Montreal Canadiens

04/09/2015 at 8:45am EDT

The puck drops just after 7:30pm ET from the Bell Centre and George has a complete preview of the game.

The following video really has nothing to do with the game tonight but does go way back and includes some great footage of some very popular names. Heck trophies are named after a few.

via the YouTube page...

Vintage footage of the rare assembly of three iconic hockey personalities. For a lively discussion about the new (at the time) Hockey Hall Of Fame at the CNE, Toronto, here are Montreal Canadiens braintrust Frank Selke Sr., Toronto Maple Leafs regent Conn Smythe and Detroit Red Wing mogul Jack Adams. All three once had a division in the NHL named after them (longtime Chicago Blackhawk owner Jim Norris being the other once having an NHL division bearing his name). Then, Joe Bowen and Bob Nevin discuss the legendary Conn Smythe. Lastly, Hockey Night In Canada host Frank Selke Jr. chats with Montreal Canadiens great, Dickie Moore about a 1963 Toronto-Detroit playoff match.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
