Where They’ll Finish, Per The Sabres Observer

It's time for my annual NHL predictions.

Here's a summary of where I think teams will finish in the 2015-16 season:

Atlantic

1- Tampa Bay - Thanks in large part to Yzerman, set up to be great for years to come.

2- Montreal - Elite goaltending and just enough offense.

3- Detroit - Prediction: Petr Mrazek is the league's breakout star in net.

4- Florida - Exciting group of youngsters, not quite enough depth.

5- Ottawa - Same as Florida.

6- Boston - Missed the playoffs then got older and weaker.

7- Buffalo - Finally a group of quality forwards, but defense and goaltending is rough.

8- Toronto - At least Babcock has a nice high-rise condo downtown.

Metropolitan

1- Washington - A complete team, well coached, and ready to make a serious run.

2- Pittsburgh - Should be some fun, high scoring games with this team.

3- Columbus - That top line is shaping up to be something special.

4- NY Rangers - Window to win with Lundqvist is starting to close.

5- NY Islanders - A good team playing in a tough division.

6- Philadelphia - Giroux and Voracek can't do it all themselves.

7- New Jersey - Schneider keeps the Devils out of 30th.

8- Carolina - Ward/Lack can't keep the Canes out of 30th.

Central

1- Chicago - Some new blood helps keep the Hawks at the top.

2- St. Louis - Another great team, another kick at the can.

3- Dallas - Some question marks here, but plenty of upside.

4- Nashville - Great group on the blueline and solid goaltending.

5- Minnesota - Dubnyk's run last season is unsustainable.

6- Winnipeg - Nothing special this season, but a great future ahead.

7- Colorado - Mackinnon should bounce back, but this isn't a good team.

Pacific

1- Anaheim - Re-tooled well and ready to contend again.

2- Los Angeles - Should've made the playoffs last season.

3- San Jose - Candidate for surprise team of the year.

4- Calgary - Calder race darkhorse: Sam Bennett.

5- Edmonton - McDavid and Hall together worth the price of admission.

6- Vancouver - Just about time to blow it up and start over.

7- Arizona - Great prospects in the pipeline, but a few years away.
