Reinhart Tallies 3 Assists in 6-4 Sabres Win Over Leafs

Sam Reinhart is pretty sneaky in that you won't notice him as much as flashier players on the ice -- until you check the scoresheet after the game.

Last night was just another example. The "other" second overall pick showed how much he has improved since last season as he tallied 3 assists in a 6-4 Buffalo comeback win over Toronto at the ACC.

With Evander Kane, Ryan O'Reilly and Jack Eichel getting pretty much all of the pub as the projected offensive stars of the new-look Sabres, Reinhart is flying a bit under the radar. But he looks ready for the big leagues, and Dan Bylsma will need to find a spot for him.

Meanwhile, O'Reilly played a stellar game last night and I think overall was actually Buffalo's best forward. He scored a shorthanded goal, had 4 takeaways and was a workhorse on the ice.

Defenseman Mark Pysyk had a goal and 2 assists and looked sharp. It appears that the game is slowing down for him.

Cody Franson had an assist and appears to be preparing to play a big role on Buffalo's power play this season.

Brendan Guhle had 2 assists, and the rumblings are continuing that he should be considered for a roster spot. As I've said before, he's looked good at times but is inconsistent and would benefit greatly from another year of junior hockey.

Robin Lehner gave up 3 goals in 40 minutes of play. He was screened on one of them but looked bad on the others, even though one was on a breakaway. We're not going to sugarcoat things here -- Lehner has not looked good in preseason.

Jack Eichel had the night off.

Buffalo is in Ottawa tonight and will use a much different lineup.
