The Edmonton Oilers have activated Ryan Nugent-Hopkins from the injured reserve list and assigned Anton Lander to the Oklahoma City Barons today. Nugent-Hopkins has been practising and taking contact with the team this week an has been anxious to return to the running for the Calder Trophy.
For Anton Lander, this move will allow the rookie to play with the Barons in their playoff run, potentially aiding with the penalty kill where Ryan O’Marra had been so effective before being traded. There are no guarantees that Lander will remain with the Barons for the rest of the Oilers regular season and the Oilers will likely reshuffle their lineups once Lander has played for the Barons.
The Oilers will host the Phoenix Coyotes in an afternoon game.
The project lines are:
Hall - Nugent-Hopkins - Hemsky
Smyth - Gagner - Eberle
Paajarvi - Horcoff - Eager
Petrell - Belanger - Hordichuk
Smid - Petry
Whitney -Potter
Sutton - Gilbert
Dubnyk
