The Florida Panthers May Need Some Goaltending Help

03/04/2015 at 2:23pm EST

via TSN,

Florida Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo is getting more imaging done on an apparent shoulder injury and will be meeting with an orthopedic doctor.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, if the prognosis is not good Florida general manager Dale Tallon may trade for a goalie. McKenzie noted in a tweet that trades are permitted post-deadline but the player is not playoff eligible.

Luongo was hurt during Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Also hurt during the Leaf game was backup goalie Al Montoya. McKenzie says that Montoya is likely out for weeks.

The Panthers recalled netminders Dan Ellis from the AHL and Sam Brittain from the ECHL to attend the team's practice on Wednesday morning. Head coach Gerard Gallant said that Ellis will start on Thursday against the Dallas Stars.
