from Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun,
The statement is that Dave Tippett’s Oilers today are a team of substance worthy of the playoff position they are very much in the process of securing with only 22 games remaining in this coronavirus shortened 56-game NHL regular season schedule.
Sunday, the Oilers chartered to Montreal for their final three-game series of the season with a two-game set to follow against the Maple Leafs in Toronto.
There’s a bigger statement to be made in those five games. Much bigger.
If they continue to perform like we’ve witnessed, the Oilers will prove they’re a legitimate threat to finish first in the Scotia North Division.
If they do that, it will prove to themselves that they are capable of prevailing in the playoffs as the surviving Canadian franchise to advance to the final four of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
