Saturday Headlines

Elliotte Friedman and Damien Cox of Sportsnet with their Saturday Headlines feature...

from Nichols On Hockey,

Cox: "L.A. continues to be interested and I think there is sort of a groundswell of interest, and you have to look at the Detroit Red Wings, who have shown that they are interested in Cody Franson. They aren't interested in the price the Leafs are asking for, believed to be a first round pick. Would they also look at Dion Phaneuf? They'd like to add a top-4. One thing is true though: Detroit not interested in parting with either one of their top prospects - Dylan Larkin or Anthony Mantha. Those guys are untouchable."

Cox: "For the Leafs, no progress on any contract talks with Mike Santorelli or Daniel Winnik. They're likely to be moved before the deadline. But there is interest in Tyler Bozak from other teams around the league."

Friedman: "Just some other defencemen to keep an eye on around the league. The Dallas Stars traded for one of Lindy Ruff's former players this week - Jhonas Enroth. There is believed to be interest in Andrej Sekera from Carolina. Tampa Bay really short on defence with blueline injuries. Interest in Zbynek Michalek from Arizona. And also Columbus is in a situation where they're willing to listen on a lot of their defencemen, with the exception of Ryan Murray and David Savard."
