PANTHERS STOP PRICE’S BID AT HISTORY
Aaron Ekblad scored his first career overtime goal – despite breaking his stick on the play – to hand Montreal its first home loss of the season (10-0-1). The Panthers also were the last team to defeat the Canadiens at Bell Centre dating back to last season (4-1 W on April 5).

* Montreal native Roberto Luongo made 34 saves in the victory to improve to 5-0-2 against his hometown club since rejoining the Panthers in 2014-15 (1.93 GAA, .938 SV%).

* Carey Price, the first NHL goalie to start a season with a win in 10 straight games, made 20 saves but fell short of tying George Hainsworth's 89-year-old Canadiens single-season record of 11 consecutive wins.

SURGING JETS HALT STREAKING BLACKHAWKS
Connor Hellebuyck turned aside all 27 shots he faced and four different skaters scored as Winnipeg extended its own point streak to five games (4-0-1) and ended Chicago’s run at 11 contests (9-0-2).

* Hellebuyck picked up his fourth straight victory and improved to 7-4-0 overall this season (2.45 GAA, .916 SV%, 1 SO).

* Defenseman Josh Morrissey opened the scoring with his first NHL goal (18 GP), while 18-year-old Patrik Laine added his League-leading 12th of the season. Laine, who paces all rookies with 12-5—17 in 18 GP, has scored 10 of his goals on home ice (also tops in the NHL).

MAPLE LEAFS, BLUE JACKETS FINDING THEIR GROOVE AT HOME
Toronto and Columbus each continued their success on home ice:

* Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk (3-1—4) set a career high with four points, including his second career hat trick (also March 26, 2011 at NYI) to help Toronto improve to 6-2-0 at Air Canada Centre. Tyler Bozak (0-4—4) established and matched career highs for assists and points in a game, respectively, while rookie Mitch Marner (1-2—3) added his second career three-point performance (16 GP).

* Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson scored 37 seconds into overtime to help Columbus rally past Washington and extend its home win streak to six games, matching a franchise record achieved in 2007-08 and 2014-15. The Blue Jackets own a 6-1-1 mark in their past eight games overall, with Sergei Bobrovsky (21 SV) earning each of those victories.

OFFENSE AGAIN CARRIES RANGERS TO VICTORY
The Rangers matched a season high with seven goals – highlighted by two goals apiece from J.T. Miller and Kevin Hayes – en route to their fourth straight road win, a 7-1-0 mark in November and a 13-4-0 record overall (26 points).

* This marks just the second time in New York’s 90-year history that they have won 13 of their first 17 games to start a season; the other instance came in 2015-16 when they won 14 of their first 18 games (14-2-2).

* The Rangers pace the NHL with 72 goals overall this season and have outscored opponents 43-17 in winning eight of their past nine games.

TRENDING UPWARD
The Devils, Ducks and Senators each continued their recent strings of success:

* Adam Henrique scored 44 seconds into overtime to lift the Devils (9-3-3, 21 points) to their fifth consecutive victory and into third place in the Metropolitan Division. New Jersey has put together a five-game win streak for the first time since they posted an equal run from Feb. 3-10, 2013.

* John Gibson made 33 saves and four different skaters found the back of the net as the Ducks improved to 4-1-1 in their last six outings, including three straight wins at home. Anaheim also moved to 9-0-1 in their past 10 games vs. EDM dating to Dec. 10, 2014 (EDM: 1-8-1), including five consecutive victories.

* Erik Karlsson notched the lone assist on Kyle Turris’ tying goal with 1:59 left in regulation before scoring the shootout winner as the Senators improved to 3-0-1 in their past four outings. Karlsson moved within one point of 400 in his NHL career (103-296—399 in 495 GP; all w/ OTT); only one defenseman has reached the mark with the Senators: WadeRedden (101-309—410 in 838 GP).

LOOSE PUCKS
The Lightning surrendered a 3-1 lead in the third period before Nikita Kucherov (2-1—3) scored the game-winning goal with 1:10 left in regulation. Kucherov (8-13—21) has collected 3-2—5 in the past two games to move into a share of the League scoring lead with Winnipeg’s Mark Scheifele (10-11—21) . . . Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward (22 SV) and Flames goaltender Chad Johnson (27 SV) each posted shutouts . . . The Blues scored four unanswered goals to halt a three-game skid . . .
