DUCKS, BLACKHAWKS CLOSE CONFERENCE FINALS WITH GAME 7
The second berth in the Stanley Cup Final is up for grabs when the Ducks play host to the Blackhawks in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final at Honda Center. Both clubs are contesting their first Game 7 since being eliminated (at home) by the Stanley Cup champion Kings last year – the Ducks in Game 7 of the Second Round (6-2 L) and the Blackhawks in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final (5-4 OT L).

The Ducks are playing their third Game 7 in as many seasons; they also lost (at home) to the Red Wings in the 2013 Western Conference Quarterfinals (3-2 L). The Blackhawks are playing their fourth Game 7 in the past five seasons; each of the past three has required overtime – also in the 2013 Western Conference Semifinals vs. DET (2-1 OT W) and the 2011 Western Conference Quarterfinals at VAN (2-1 OT L).

Blackhawks forward Brad Richards owns a perfect 7-0 record in seven career Game 7s (5 w/ NYR, 2 w/ TBL). In the 2014 Second Round at PIT (w/ NYR), his last such appearance, Richards scored the decisive goal to become the second player in NHL history to win seven consecutive Game 7s (at any point in a career). The other to do so:Red Kelly, who posted a perfect 7-0 record in seven career Game 7s (and is now joined by Lightning defenseman Anton Stralman at 7-0). The only players who have earned more career Game 7 victories: Glenn Anderson and Ray Bourque, each with eight.

The Blackhawks are 6-6 in 12 all-time Game 7s (1-3 on the road). Their lone such win on the road was in the 1965 Semifinals, when they beat the Red Wings 4-2 before ultimately losing to the Canadiens in seven games in the Stanley Cup Final (4-0 L at MTL in Game 7).

FLAWLESS BISHOP LIFTS LIGHTNING INTO STANLEY CUP FINAL
Ben Bishop stopped all 22 shots he faced, including 11 in the third period, to post his second consecutive Game 7 shutout and lead the Lightning into the Stanley Cup Final.

* The Lightning advanced to the Stanley Cup Final for the second time in franchise history. In their lone other appearance, in 2004, they defeated the Flames in seven games to capture the first championship in club history.

* The Lightning improved to 5-1 in six all-time Game 7s, including a 2-1 record on the road. They also improved to 7-2 in their last nine games when facing elimination dating to Game 5 of the 2011 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at PIT (3-0 this year).

* The Lightning earned their second all-time road shutout in a Game 7. They also accomplished that feat in the 2011 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at PIT (Dwayne Roloson: 36 SV in 1-0 W). Sportsnet Stats says they became the first team in NHL history to win two Game 7s on the road via a shutout.

* Sportsnet Stats adds that the Lightning, who also blanked the Rangers in Game 5 at Madison Square Garden (Bishop: 26 SV), became the first team in Stanley Cup Playoffs history to post road shutouts Games 5 and 7 of one series.

* After dropping Game 1 at Madison Square Garden (2-1 L), the Lightning won the final three contests in New York – including a 145:43 shutout streak dating to Game 2. The Lightning outscored the Rangers 11-4 on the road, compared to a 17-10 deficit at home (1-2).

The Bruins, who were swept by the Canadiens in the 1987 Adams Division Semifinals (4-0), advanced to the 1988 Stanley Cup Final before ultimately losing to the Oilers (4-0).

The others to do so: Red Kelly (7-0 in his career) and former Rangers teammate Brad Richards (also 7-0 in his career). The only players who have earned more career Game 7 victories: Glenn Anderson and Ray Bourque, each with eight.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: BEN BISHOP
Ben Bishop denied all 22 shots he faced to earn his second career Game 7 shutout in as many appearances – he also blanked the Red Wings in Game 7 of the First Round (31 SV).

A closer look at Bishop’s record-setting performance (courtesy of Elias):

* Bishop became the first goaltender in NHL history to post shutouts in each of his first two career Game 7 appearances.

* Bishop became the third goaltender in NHL history to record two Game 7 shutouts in one playoff year. The others: Avalanche goaltender Patrick Roy in 2002 (CQF vs. LAK: 23 SV and CSF vs. SJS: 27 SV) and Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas in 2011 (CF vs. TBL: 24 SV and F at VAN: 37 SV).

* Bishop became the first goaltender in NHL history to earn road shutouts in Games 5 and 7 of one playoff series.

* Bishop, who collected an assist on Ondrej Palat’s insurance goal with 8:43 remaining in regulation, recorded his third assist/point of the playoffs and second in a Game 7 (also 0-1—1 vs. DET). The others: Tom Barrasso (Boston, Mass.; 43 in 1992-93 w/ PIT), Mike Richter (Abington, Pa.; 42 in 1993-94 w/ NYR) and Ryan Miller (East Lansing, Mich.; 40 in 2006-07 and 41 in 2009-10, both w/ BUF).

* Bishop improved to 12-8 during the playoffs (2.15 GAA, .920 SV%, 3 SO). That includes a 7-1 record following a loss (1.25 GAA, .951 SV%, 2 SO) and 7-3 clip on the road (1.45 GAA, .947 SV%, 2 SO).

* Bishop also improved to 12-3-0 in 15 career appearances vs. NYR (regular season and playoffs). That includes a 6-1-0 record at Madison Square Garden (1.29 GAA, .955 SV%, 2 SO) – and 145:43 shutout streak dating to Game 2.

BIG GUNS POWER LIGHTNING OFFENSE

* The Lightning improved to 6-0 in the six games in which Killorn has scored this postseason. His lone multi-goal effort came in Game 2 at NYR (2-1—3).

* Palat added his seventh goal of the playoffs, giving him 7-8—15 overall (20 GP). Linemate Tyler Johnson, who leads all players with 12 goals and 21 points this postseason (20 GP), collected the primary assist on the goal.

* The “Triplets” line of Johnson (12-9—21), Nikita Kucherov (9-10—19) and Palat (7-8—15) has combined for 28 of the Lightning’s 55 goals during the playoffs (50.9%).
