HAT TRICKS HELP SHARKS, CANUCKS KEEP PACE IN PACIFIC
San Jose’s Joe Pavelski and Vancouver’s Shawn Matthias each tallied hat tricks to help their clubs keep pace in the Pacific Division. Both the Sharks (29-20-8, 66 points) and Canucks (31-20-3, 65 points) maintained their rank in the division and increased their leads over the idle Flames (30-22-3, 63 points) and Kings (24-18-12, 60 points).


* Pavelski recorded his fourth career hat trick to help the Sharks erase an early 2-0 deficit and snap their three-game skid in Arizona.

* Pavelski paces the Sharks with 31-21—52 in 57 GP and trails only Rick Nash (34) and AlexOvechkin (33) for the NHL goals lead. Pavelski potted his other three career hat tricks last season, finishing with a career-high 41 goals (82 GP); he also reached the 30-goal plateau in 2011-12 (31; 82 GP).

* Joe Thornton (12-38—50 in 53 GP) and Logan Couture (20-30—50 in 57 GP) joined Pavelski in reaching the 50-point mark on Friday. Thornton registered his second three-assist performance of the season (also Feb. 2 vs. EDM); he ranks fifth in the NHL with 38 helpers. Couture has 2-5—7 on his five-game point streak.

* Todd McLellan became the second-fastest coach in NHL history to reach 300 wins (515 games, 300-150-65), behind Bruce Boudreau (496, 300-137-59).

* Matthias scored twice in the opening 5:03 before completing his first NHL hat trick in the third period to power the Canucks to their second straight win.


* Matthias registered his first multi-goal game with the Canucks and first since March 2, 2014 at NYI (w/ FLA). He is the second Canucks player to record a hat trick this season, following JannikHansen (3-0—3 on Nov. 23 vs. CHI).

* Radim Vrbata notched the game-winning goal to extend his point streak to a career-high eight games (3-6—9). He paces the Canucks with 21 goals in 51 GP, surpassing his 81-game total from last season (20).

* Zack Kassian (0-2—2) registered his first multi-point game since April 12, 2014 at EDM. He has 3-3—6 on his current five-game point streak, surpassing his total from his first 25 games of the season (2-3—5).

* Playing in his 600th regular-season game, Ryan Miller made 21 saves to improve to 26-14-1 in 41 GP, surpassing his win total from last season (59 GP).

LEHTONEN LIGHTS OUT AS STARS INCH CLOSER TO WILD CARD
Kari Lehtonen denied all 37 shots he faced, including 17 in the final frame, to backstop the Stars to their third straight win and their first home win over the Panthers since Dec. 7, 2005 (0-3-1 since).

* The Stars (26-21-8, 60 points), moved within three points of the idle Flames (30-22-3, 63 points) for the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Calgary holds the ROW tiebreaker (CGY: 27, DAL: 24).


* Lehtonen recorded his 31st career shutout and fourth this season. He improved to 5-1-1 with a 2.26 goals-against average and .932 save percentage in his last seven appearances.

* Jamie Benn scored his eighth career shorthanded goal and second this season (also Jan. 29 at OTT). He has 7-7—14 in his last 12 games and ranks second on the club with 19-31—50 in 55 GP.

* The Stars have tallied three shorthanded goals in their last two games to take the NHL lead with nine such tallies this season. Four shy of the franchise record of 13 set in 1982-83, the Stars last scored at least nine shorthanded goals in 1997-98 (11).

* Jason Spezza also found the back of the net for the Stars to stretch his point streak to four games (2-4—6). He ranks third on the club in scoring with 11-32—43 this season.

HOSSA STAYS HOT, TRIGGERS THIRD-PERIOD RALLY
Marian Hossa tallied 1-1—2 to help the Blackhawks erase a 1-0 deficit with three unanswered goals in the third period to snap a two-game skid and earn their fourth straight win over the Devils (dating to Dec. 23, 2013).

* Hossa posted multiple points for the fourth straight game (7-1—8), the fourth such streak of his career (last: Nov. 8-14, 2008, four games). His four-game goal streak is one shy of his career-high.

* The Blackhawks (34-18-4, 72 points) moved within four points of the second-place Blues (36-15-4, 76 points) in the Central Division race.

* Jonathan Toews potted his 40th career game-winning goal (third this season). He ranks second on the club in scoring with 16-30—46.

BLUE JACKETS COMPLETE COMEBACK WITH OT WIN
The Blue Jackets rallied from a 3-1 third-period deficit to force overtime, where Artem Anisimov netted the winner to lift Columbus to its sixth straight home win over Philadelphia (dating to Dec. 27, 2008).

* Anisimov tallied his third career overtime goal (also Nov. 11, 2010 vs. BUF w/ NYR and Mar. 3, 2013 vs. COL) and found the back of the net for the first time since Oct. 11. He has 1-3—4 in seven games since returning from a 23-game absence on Jan. 29.

* The Blue Jackets' Cam Atkinson scored for the third time in his last four outings while Jared Boll found the back of the net for the first time since Nov. 12, 2013 at WSH, ending a 63-game goal drought. Brandon Dubinsky contributed 1-1---2.

* Nick Foligno extended his point streak to four games (3-3—6) to take the team lead with 21-30—51 in 52 GP. Scott Hartnell also tallied one helper to stretch his point streak to five games (3-4—7).

* ICYMI: The Blue Jackets honored Hartnell for playing in his 1,000th NHL game Monday vs. LAK. He has totaled 263-309—572 in his career, including 157-169—326 in 517 GP with Philadelphia from 2007-14.


MEDIA EVENT ANNOUNCING NEW NHL STATISTICS PLATFORM: RSVP REQUESTED
The National Hockey League will hold a media event on Friday, Feb. 20 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., to unveil its new statistics platform, on the eve of the 2015 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series game between the Sharks and Kings. Among those in attendance will be NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and Chief Operating Officer John Collins.

Mark Arcobello scored in his debut with the Coyotes, his fourth team this season (EDM: 36 GP; NSH: 4 GP; PIT: 10 GP). He is just the third player in NHL history to suit up for four teams in one season, following Dennis O’Brien (1977-78; Minnesota, Colorado, Cleveland, Boston) and Dave McLlwain (1991-92; Winnipeg, NY Islanders, Buffalo, Toronto). Arcobello and O’Brien are the only players to record a point with four different teams in a season.

LOOSE PUCKS
Despite their overtime loss, the Flyers extended their point streak to eight games (5-0-3), their longest run since an equal stretch from Oct. 29 to Nov. 17, 2011 (6-0-2) . . . Wayne Simmonds (2-1—3) registered his ninth career three-point performance and second this season (also 2-1—3 Oct. 9 vs. NJD). He has compiled 5-4—9 in his last seven games to reach the 20-goal milestone for the third time in his NHL career . . . The Devils lost in regulation for the first time this season when leading after 40 minutes (15-1-6) . . . Devils forward Jaromir Jagr played in his 1,524th NHL game, tying Brendan Shanahan for 13th in NHL history . . . Teammate Patrik Elias played in his 1,200th NHL game, becoming the 103rd player in NHL history to reach the milestone . . . Forward Ryan Hartman, Chicago's first-round pick (30th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft, registered two hits and three shots in his NHL debut with the Blackhawks. He is a product of the Chicago Mission minor hockey program . . . Patrick Kane recorded his League-leading 63rd point (27-36—63). Jakub Voracek tallied an assist to move into sole possession of second place in the scoring race with 18-42—60 . . . Arizona’s Keith Yandle notched a power-play assist; he leads all defensemen with 36 helpers and ranks second overall with 26 power-play points . . . Blue Jackets goaltender Curtis McElhinney stopped 22 shots to improve to 7-3-0 in his last 10 decisions and 4-1-0 all-time vs. PHI.

HOCKEY DAY CELEBRATION HEADS TO HALIFAX
Canada's annual hockey celebration, Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada, is set to roll in Halifax, NS. Coverage begins at Noon ET/9 a.m. PT and continues all day and night with live game action on CBC, City, Sportsnet, and Rogers NHL GameCentre LIVE. The full schedule is available here.

The 13.5-hour broadcast will be headlined by an NHL tripleheader, featuring five national game broadcasts with all seven Canadian NHL teams in action. George Stroumboulopoulos will serve as host from the Hockey Central studio in Toronto, while Ron MacLean will be on-location at the Outdoor Oval in Halifax. Kelly Hrudey, Elliotte Friedman and Nick Kypreos join Stroumboulopoulos in Toronto, with Don Cherry, Cassie Campbell-Pascall, Jennifer Botterill, and NHL alumni including Wendel Clark, Lanny McDonald and Guy Carbonneau joining MacLean in Halifax.
