BLUES HOLD ON TO EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO SEVEN . . .
The Blues built a 3-0 lead early in the third period and held on to push their winning streak to seven games despite surrendering three scores in the final 3:25 of regulation.

* The Blues last won seven straight games from Dec. 28, 2013 – Jan. 9, 2014 (7-0-0).

* Vladimir Tarasenko (1-1—2) recorded another highlight-reel goal to extend his scoring streak to four games (5-2—7), matching a career long set Oct. 5-15, 2013 (4-1—5). He leads the Blues with nine goals and 16 points this season (13 GP), ranking third and tied for fourth, respectively, among all NHLers.

* Jake Allen made 24 saves, stretching his shutout streak to 184:38 before yielding a third-period goal to Michael Ryder. Allen’s shutout streak is the longest by a Blues rookie and the fifth-longest in club history overall. Per Elias, his 184:38 run also was the longest by any rookie goaltender since 2008-09 (Steve Mason – 199:28 with CBJ).

* Allen improved to 4-1-0 with a 1.40 goals-against average, .944 save percentage and two shutouts in five appearances this season. He leads the NHL in goals-against average and ranks second in save percentage while also pacing all rookies in wins.

* The Blues recorded their sixth victory in their last seven meetings with the Devils dating to March 20, 2010, including a sweep of their home-and-home series (1-0 W Tuesday at NJD).

. . . PENGUINS EDGE JETS TO WIN SIXTH STRAIGHT
Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby both scored in the shootout to power the Penguins to their sixth consecutive victory, their longest winning streak since Dec. 9-21, 2013 (7-0-0).

* The Penguins also recorded their fifth straight win against the Jets (dating to Feb. 15, 2013) and their 20th victory in their last 23 head-to-head matchups (dating to March 2, 2008).

* Crosby (27-for-63, 42.9%) posted his 16th career game-deciding goal in the tiebreaker, breaking a tie for sole possession of first place among active skaters (one ahead of Patrick Kane, Mikko Koivu and Frans Nielsen).

* Brandon Sutter registered 1-2—3, matching career highs for assists and points in one game. His only other three-point performance came on Feb. 11, 2010 vs. BUF, when he collected 1-2—3 as a member of the Hurricanes.

* Marc-Andre Fleury made 34 saves – and denied two of three shootout attempts – to extend his personal winning streak to five games (1.18 GAA, .956 SV%, 3 SO), but saw his shutout streak end at 164:22, just 8:54 shy of Tomas Vokoun’s franchise record (173:16).

BRUINS RALLY TO CONTINUE DOMINANCE OF OILERS
Down 2-1 midway through the third period, the Bruins scored four unanswered goals to pick up their 13th consecutive victory over the Oilers – a streak that began exactly 13 years earlier (Nov. 6, 2001 vs. EDM).

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Boston’s run of 13 straight victories against Edmonton is tied for the longest active winning streak by one NHL team against another – Chicago has won its last 13 games against Columbus dating to April 1, 2011.

* The Bruins also picked up their eighth consecutive home victory against the Oilers dating to Nov. 11, 2002. They haven’t lost on home ice in the head-to-head series since Nov. 7, 1996 (9-0-1, including a 2-2 tie Dec. 9, 1999).

* The Bruins recorded their fourth consecutive victory overall, their longest such streak since winning 12 straight March 2-22, 2014.

* Dougie Hamilton posted 1-2—3 to equal single-game highs in goals, assists and points. He had a matching 1-2—3 performance Oct. 25 at TOR.

* Carl Soderberg (1-1—2) scored the game-winning goal; he leads the Bruins with 4-8—12 this season.

OFFSEASON ACQUISITIONS (AGAIN) POWER CANUCKS
Ryan Miller made 34 saves, including 14 in the third period, and Nick Bonino registered the tiebreaking goal to lead the Canucks to their sixth victory in their last seven outings.

* Miller improved to 10-1-0 with a 2.19 goals-against average, .920 save percentage and one shutout in 11 appearances this season. Elias says he became the fastest goaltender in Canucks history to reach 10 wins; Bob Essensa and Kay Whitmore shared the previous record, both recording their 10th win in their 16th game with the club.

* Bonino scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season. He also now is tied for the League lead with three game-winners (14 GP); Bonino had two such goals in 189 career outings prior to 2013-14.

* Radim Vrbata, another offseason acquisition, added his sixth goal of the season. The line of Henrik Sedin (5-10—15), Daniel Sedin (3-11—14) and Vrbata (6-7—13) has combined for 14-28—42 in 14 games.

* The Canucks picked up just their second win in their last 12 meetings with the Sharks (regular season and playoffs) dating to Jan. 27, 2013 (2-6-4).

HOME COOKING
Several teams continued to stay hot at home with wins Thursday:

* Cedric Paquette scored his first two NHL goals and Ben Bishop made 29 saves to help the Lightning complete a perfect 4-0-0 homestand (6-1-1 overall at home this season). Via Elias, Paquette became just the third player in Lightning history to record his first two career goals in the same game. The others: Mark Barberio (Jan. 19, 2004 vs. COL) and Steven Stamkos (Oct. 30, 2008 at BUF).

* Jakub Voracek posted his team-leading sixth goal of the season (tied with Michael Raffl and Wayne Simmonds) to power the Flyers to their fourth consecutive victory at Wells Fargo Center (4-1-2 overall at home this season). Voracek now has 4-8—12 during a seven-game point streak and is tied for the League lead (with Sidney Crosby) with 6-13—19 in 13 outings this season.

* Craig Anderson stopped all 35 shots he faced to record his 28th career shutout (second of the season) and help the Senators improve to 4-0-2 this season at Canadian Tire Centre. Mike Hoffman (2-0—2) posted his first career multi-goal game and Clarke MacArthur scored his third game-winner of the season, tied for the League lead (with Nick Bonino and Chris Kunitz).

BY THE THINNEST OF MARGINS
Several other clubs recorded one-goal victories Thursday:

* Matt Cullen registered the tiebreaking goal with 6:13 remaining in regulation and Pekka Rinne made 33 saves, including 12 in the third period, to lead the Predators to their first win in Dallas since March 12, 2013 (0-2-1). Filip Forsberg also found the back of the net for the third consecutive outing and extended his point streak to a career-long four games (4-2—6); he leads all rookies with eight assists and 13 points in 13 contests this season.

* Kyle Okposo and Frans Nielsen both scored in the shootout to lift the Islanders to their first victory in Los Angeles since Feb. 15, 2003 (0-4-0). Nielsen improved to 34-for-62, with 15 game-deciding goals, in his shootout career; his 54.8% efficiency ranks second among active skaters with at least 15 attempts. The Islanders also completed their first Anaheim-Los Angeles sweep in franchise history, following a 3-2 overtime win against the Ducks Wednesday.

* Matt Duchene posted his fourth goal of the season and then added the decisive marker in the shootout to help the Avalanche end their three-game skid (0-2-1). Reto Berra made 35 saves, including 16 in the third period/overtime, to pick up his second win of the season. Colorado recorded its first home victory against Toronto since Jan. 17, 2006 (0-3-0).
