THREE HARD LAPS

* Leon Draisaitl factored on four of eight goals to extend his double-digit point streak, pad his lead in the 2019-20 Art Ross Trophy race and help the Oilers earn a win in the penultimate Battle of Alberta installment slated for the 2019-20 regular season.

* David Pastrnak of the Atlantic Division-leading Bruins registered 1-2—3 to claim sole possession of first place in the 2019-20 Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy race, while Quinn Hughes of the Pacific Division-leading Canucks scored twice to leapfrog another defenseman for the most points among rookie skaters this season.

* Storylines are aplenty heading into the 50th head-to-head regular-season meeting between Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby, with the hosts and its captain looking to continue their historic success in games taking place on Super Bowl Sunday.

STREAKING PLAYERS HELP TEAMS IN PUSH FOR PLAYOFF BERTH
Streaking players helped the Oilers, Flyers and Blackhawks earn two crucial points Saturday as each club looks to make a push for a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs:

* Edmonton forward Leon Draisaitl (0-4—4) extended his scoring streak to 11 games (7-15—22) and became the first player to eclipse the 80-point mark this season (29-54—83 in 52 GP). Draisaitl, who padded his lead on teammate Connor McDavid (29-50—79 in 52 GP) atop the 2019-20 Art Ross Trophy race, became the first Oilers player to reach the 80-point mark in 52 games or fewer since Mark Messier in 1989-90 (28-53—81 in 50 GP).

* Edmonton scored eight-plus goals in a game versus Calgary for the third time over the past 35 years (since 1984-85), following Nov. 26, 1996 (10-1 W) and April 3, 2013 (8-2 W). The Oilers (28-18-6, 62 points), who moved two points ahead of the Flames (27-20-6, 60 points) and occupy second place in the Pacific Division standings, are set to face their intraprovince rival once more in 2019-20 in an April 4 showdown on the final day of the regular season.

* Nineteen-year-old Joel Farabee (2-0—2) recorded his first multi-goal game in the NHL to extend his point streak to a career-high five contests (4-2—6) and help the Flyers (28-17-7, 63 points) move into the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Farabee became the third teenager to record at least one point in five-plus consecutive team games this season, joining Carolina’s Andrei Svechnikov from Nov. 9-27, 2019 (5-8—13 in 9 GP) and Chicago’s Kirby Dach from Nov. 10-19, 2019 (4-3—7 in 5 GP).

* Only four teenagers in franchise history have recorded a point of streak of more than five games within a regular season: Eric Lindros from Nov. 4-21, 1992 (7-6—13 in 7 GP), Peter Zezel from Dec. 3-15, 1984 (2-8—10 in 6 GP), Mike Ricci from Nov. 25 – Dec. 6, 1990 (4-3—7 in 6 GP) and Sean Couturier from Jan. 8-19, 2012 (5-2—7 in 6 GP).

* Patrick Kane collected 0-2—2 in regulation to extend his point streak to 12 games (5-13—18) – the longest active run in the NHL – and scored in the shootout as Chicago defeated Arizona to improve to 4-0-0 in its last four road contests. The Blackhawks (25-21-6, 56 points) moved within three points of the Coyotes (26-21-7, 59 points), who occupy the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference standings.

PASTRNAK RE-ESTABLISHES LEAD IN 2019-20 “ROCKET” RACE
Bruins forward David Pastrnak (1-2—3) scored his 38th goal of the season (38-37—75 in 53 GP) to reclaim sole possession of first place in the 2019-20 Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy race – moving one ahead of Alex Ovechkin (37-17—54 in 51 GP), who plays this afternoon.

HUGHES TALLIES TWICE, PASSES MAKAR FOR ROOKIE SCORING LEAD
Quinn Hughes tallied twice – including scoring the overtime winner – to record the first multi-goal game of his NHL career and help the Pacific Division-leading Canucks (30-18-4, 64 points) improve to 7-1-0 in their last eight contests, including five consecutive wins.

* Hughes (8-30—38 in 51 GP), a 20-year-old native of Orlando, Fla., claimed sole possession of the scoring lead among rookie skaters this season – moving past Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar (11-26—37 in 42 GP), who was held off the score sheet Saturday.

* Hughes became the sixth different rookie defenseman in franchise history to record a multi-goal game and first since teammate Alexander Edler nearly 12 years ago on Feb. 14, 2008 (2-1—3 vs. MIN).

* Hughes became the sixth rookie defenseman in NHL history to record a multi-goal game which included an overtime winner, joining San Jose’s Tom Pederson on Nov. 25, 1992 (2-1—3 at CGY), Minnesota’s Filip Kuba on Jan. 5, 2001 (2-0—2 vs. DET), Phoenix’s Keith Ballard on Dec. 29, 2005 (2-0—2 vs. LAK), Calgary’s Dion Phaneuf on Feb. 10, 2008 (2-0—2 vs. STL) and Winnipeg’s Jacob Trouba on Jan. 18, 2014 (2-0—2 vs. EDM).

RANGERS EARN SECOND WIN VERSUS RED WINGS IN AS MANY DAYS
Henrik Lundqvist turned aside all 33 shots he faced as New York swept its back-to-back, home-and-home set versus Detroit (also Jan. 31: 4-2 W). The Rangers earned wins against the Red Wings in consecutive days for the fourth time in franchise history and first in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68).

* Lundqvist recorded his fifth career shutout versus Detroit and improved to 9-5-6 in 20 career appearances against the Red Wings overall (1.86 GAA, .941 SV%). The 15-season NHL veteran became the sixth goaltender in franchise history to post five-plus regular-season shutouts versus their Original Six counterpart, joining Dave Kerr (8), John Ross Roach (7), Chuck Rayner (6), Ed Giacomin (6) and Gump Worsley (5).

* Lundqvist earned his 459th career regular-season victory to remain tied at fifth place on the NHL’s all-time list with Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury – who also recorded a shutout Saturday. The last time Lundqvist trailed Fleury in career wins was entering play on Oct. 27, 2005, when the former had three victories (3-1-2) and the latter had four (4-15-3).

DID YOU KNOW?
Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist wasn’t the only member of an Original Six team to shine Saturday, with Boston’s Torey Krug (2-2—4) and Montreal’s Jeff Petry (0-4—4) leading all defensemen with four points apiece. It marked the first day to feature multiple blueliners from Original Six clubs each recording four-plus points since Jan. 6, 1994, when Boston’s Ray Bourque (1-3—4 vs. WIN) and Detroit’s Nicklas Lidstrom (0-4—4 at SJS) combined for the feat.

PREVIEW OF TODAY’S ACTION

OVECHKIN CONTINUES CHASE OF GOAL No. 700 IN 50TH GAME VERSUS CROSBY

Alex Ovechkin (695-570—1,265 in 1,135 GP), who has scored at least once in each of his last five games (11-1—12) to move within five of 700 career regular-season goals, looks to extend his run and close in on the milestone when the League-leading Capitals host the Penguins at Capital One Arena.

* Sunday is set to mark the 50th regular-season meeting between Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby, who has collected 11 points in six games since returning to the Pittsburgh lineup on Jan. 14 (4-7—11). In their 49 previous matchups, Crosby has 1.43 points per game while Ovechkin holds the goal-scoring edge with a total of 30 tallies.

* John Carlson assisted on four Ovechkin goals over the last five games, including one on Friday to record his 362nd career regular-season helper and pass Calle Johansson (361) for the most by a defenseman in franchise history.

* Carlson (13-49—62 in 52 GP), who leads NHL defensemen and all Capitals skaters in scoring this season, can become the first blueliner to reach the 50-assist mark within his first 53 games since Rangers stalwart Sergei Zubov in 1993-94 (8-50—58 in 49 GP).

SUPER BOWL SUNDAY #NHLSTATS
* The Canadiens (20-11-3, 43 points) have earned 20 all-time wins in games taking place on Super Bowl Sunday, edging the Capitals (17-10-2, 36 points) for the most in NHL history. Pittsburgh (5-9-3, 13 points), also in action this afternoon, has earned five all-time wins on Super Bowl Sunday – tied for the seventh-most in League history.

* Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has scored 10 career goals in games taking place on Super Bowl Sunday (10-4—14 in 12 GP), trailing only Phil Esposito (16-16—32 in 12 GP) for the most in NHL history. His 14 career points in games on Super Bowl Sunday are the fourth-most in League history behind Esposito, Johnny Bucyk (5-13—18 in 9 GP) and Ken Hodge (7-9—16 in 9 GP).

* NHL franchises based in the same city (or within close geographic proximity) to the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers competed in the League simultaneously for two seasons from 1974-75 to 1975-76 – the Kansas City Scouts and now-defunct California Golden Seals. The Scouts and Golden Seals met in eight head-to-head games, with Kansas City owning a 4-2-2 edge (CGS: 2-4-2).
