THREE HARD LAPS

* Yanni Gourde scored the game-winning goal for the second time in as many days as the Lightning swept the 2019 NHL Global Series. Tampa Bay’s five-goal outing tied the highest total by one team in a regular-season game contested outside North America.

* Colorado's Cale Makar registered his second multi-point outing in as many games to become the fourth defenseman in NHL history to collect at least 17 points through his first 17 career regular-season contests.

* David Perron scored in overtime to lift the Blues to their seventh straight win and become the first player in NHL history to score three overtime goals prior to his team’s 20th game.

LIGHTNING SWEEP 2019 GLOBAL SERIES WITH FIVE-GOAL OUTING
Pat Maroon scored twice and Yanni Gourde (1-1—2) netted the game-winning goal for the second time in as many days to help the Lightning sweep their two-game set with the Sabres in the 2019 NHL Global Series at Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden.

* Tampa Bay’s five goals Saturday tied the highest total by one team in a regular-season game contested outside North America.

* Meanwhile, the eight total goals between the Lightning and Sabres finished tied for the most combined goals by two teams competing in a regular-season game outside North America.

* After netting the game-winning goal in Friday’s contest, Gourde became the first player in NHL history to score two game-winning goals in games contested outside North America. Additionally, he joined Vincent Lecavalier (Feb. 25-26, 2004) and Eric Brewer (April 10-11, 2014) as just the third player in Lightning history to score the game-winning goal in consecutive days.

MAKAR CONTINUES POINT-PER-GAME PACE TO BEGIN ROOKIE SEASON
Cale Makar scored twice to record his second multi-point outing in as many contests and propel the Avalanche to victory at Pepsi Center. The 21-year-old defenseman boosted his 2019-20 totals to 4-13—17 and became the fourth defenseman in NHL history to collect at least 17 points through his first 17 career regular-season games.

* He became the fourth defenseman in Avalanche/Nordiques history to record a multi-goal game before his 22nd birthday. The others: Bryan Fogarty (Dec. 1, 1990), Bruce Bell (Jan. 24, 1985) and Pierre Lacroix (Jan. 27, 1980 and Nov. 20, 1979).

* Makar has been held off the score sheet only four times through his first 17 career regular-season contests, highlighted by a three-point performance against the Predators in his last outing. He joined David Pichette (2 GP from Dec. 7-10, 1980) as just the second rookie defensemen in Avalanche/Nordiques history to post consecutive multi-point outings.

PERRON NETS AN NHL FIRST WITH YET ANOTHER OT GOAL

David Perron (1-1—2) scored his third overtime goal in seven games, and fifth game-winning goal of the season, as the Blues fended off a Flames multi-goal comeback to sweep their four-game road trip and extend their win streak to seven contests.

* Perron, who also scored the overtime winner Oct. 27 at Detroit and Nov. 1 vs. Columbus, beat David Rittich 2:46 into the extra frame to become the first player in NHL history to score three overtime goals prior to his team’s 20th game.

* Perron and the Blues will play their 19th and 20th games of 2019-20 against the Coyotes (Nov. 12) and Blue Jackets (Nov. 15). Only four players in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68) have scored six game-winning goals through their team’s first 20 games of a season: Sergei Fedorov (2002-03 w/ DET), Jaromir Jagr (1994-95 w/ PIT), Peter Zezel (1986-87 w/ PHI) and Brian Propp (1982-83 w/ PHI).

BARZAL HELPS ISLANDERS EXTEND POINT STREAK TO 11 CONTESTS . . .
Mathew Barzal (1-1—2) and Scott Mayfield each found the back of the net as the Islanders edged out the Panthers to extend their point streak to 12 contests dating to Oct. 12 (vs. FLA).

* On the heels of a 1-3-0 start to 2019-20, the Islanders (12-3-1, 25 points) have earned at least a point in 12 consecutive team games dating back to Oct 12 (3-2 W SO) against the Panthers. The last time the Islanders have had a streak of as many games was their 15-game win streak in 1981-82 – the longest in club history.

. . . WHILE CARLSON, CAPITALS ALSO DO SO ON HOME ICE
Evgeny Kuznetsov (1-1—2), Nicklas Backstrom (2-0—2), John Carlson (0-2—2) and Jakub Vrana (0-2—2) each registered multi-point outings as the Capitals extended their win and point streaks to six and 11 games (10-0-1), respectively.

* Carlson (8-20—28 in 18 GP) recorded his 10th multi-point game of 2019-20 to boost his career totals to 98-333—431. He joined Bobby Orr (1974-75) and Al MacInnis (1990-91) as just the third defenseman in NHL history to register his 10th multi-point game through his team’s first 18 contests of a season.

AROUND THE RINKS

* Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Vladislav Namestnikov scored four seconds apart to help the Senators build a three-goal cushion and earn their third win in four contests. Ottawa recorded the 10th instance in NHL history of a team scoring two goals in a span of four seconds or less.

* Shea Weber (208-339—547 in 942 GP) scored his 100th and 101st career power-play goals as the Canadiens (9-5-3, 21 points) defeated the Kings at Bell Centre. He is the only active defenseman to reach the milestone and is one of only 12 defensemen to score 100 career power-play goals since the statistic began being tracked in 1933-34.
