via the Toronto Maple Leafs,
Brendan Shanahan, President and Alternate Governor of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced today that the club has decided to part ways with General Manager Kyle Dubas. Dubas's contract is set to expire on June 30 and he will not return as Toronto's General Manager next season.
"I would like to thank Kyle for his unwavering dedication over these last nine seasons with the organization, including his last five as General Manager. Kyle fostered a great culture within our dressing room and staff, and consistently pushed to make our team better season over season. We wish Kyle and his family the best moving forward and thank him for his valuable contributions."
Am I the only one seeing this as an opportunity for Jeff Blashill??
Why you...
😅
So you think the AHL coach moves up and Blash can interview for the Marlies AHL position
because Blash sure cant coach an NHL team with playoffs or bust mentalities. See his first year on the job and the 1 for 25 (dont remember exact stat but it was in that neighborhood) on the PP which cost them the 1st round series.
Its not even a funny joke. Look at the failed development of all of Detroits core back thenonly Larkin is left. The rebuild is going on year 8. That is in big part because of Blash.
I don't agree that Blashill caused what became the worst roster in NHL history. At some point you have to have some talent. Kenny took all that away.
Blash didnt build those shitty rosters.
C'mon man... Blash has been failing up for years! Now you want to hold him back??

I hear you, but I'd lay more of the blame at the feet (you know, those tire-kicking feet) of Ken Holland. His drafting and trading record alone screwed the development of the Wings.
Picking Zadina over Quinn Hughes was a huge draft f-up. And trading his 1st round pick to Tampa (that Yzerman turned into Vasilevskiy) just to get Quincey back after giving him away for nothing on waivers was merely the worst of his many trade screw-ups.
I had expected this prior to this season, but honestly with their advance to the second round I thought he had bought a few more years. Then add in a couple months ago that news article that had interviewed anonymous GM's and asked them about Dubas's future; the resounding answer was, "Please, he's not going anywhere, he's got a team full of talent."
If you read the history Dubas and Keefe have, it's one of those situations where it seems Keefe got the job because they were friends, not because he was necessarily the most qualified. That hiring mistake should fall on Dubas, and it looks like it has.
Alas, someone is going to take over a real big mess in Toronto.
How long before Jim Rutherford gets a call from Shanny?
