Issues Facing The Philadelphia Flyers As Training Camp Opens

09/18/2015 at 9:05am EDT

via Sam Carchidi of Broad Street Bull,

1. Fixing a penalty-killing unit that was one of the worst in the NHL last season.

2. Deciding whether it’s time bring in some young talent (Ivan Provorov? Sam Morin?) on the back end.

3. Trying to build chemistry and learn a new system under Dave Hakstol, who is making the quantum leap from coaching at the University of North Dakota to the NHL.

4. Determining where Brayden Schenn, who spent time at three different positions last season, newcomer Sam Gagner and veteran Vinny Lecavalier will play.

5. Extinguishing a defeatist attitude that seemed to permeate close games last season, when the Flyers won just 15 of 43 one-goal decisions (.349 percentage) and were 3-11 in shootouts.
