When @kevin_mcgran follows up, Bettman says not supporting a particular charity doesn't necessarily make one a bigot.

"We're trying to be open, welcoming and inclusive," Bettman said. Then adds you have to be "tolerant, to a point, of various views."
The "summitt" post said you MUST be x characteristic and yes it was an employment event. Thus, discriminatory.
The Rangers thing im not on board with per se but not a lot of information on what exactly happened.
You really need to broaden your perspective. I can almost count the number of non-white players on my hand, leave alone the general absence of minority coaches, GM’s, and team owners in the NHL. So are we really gonna act like the NHL discriminates against white men? The NHL is whitest thing since whole milk. Honestly I think golf has the NHL beat on diversity, and that’s an accomplishment.
I’m not gonna buy the discrimination complaint because white guys weren’t invited to one job fair. Grow up.
"Examples of potentially unlawful practices include: (1) soliciting applications only from sources in which all or most potential workers are of the same race or color;"
Of course any reasonable person would then be able to say that recruiting candidates while excluding a specific group, based on their race/color, is a discriminatory and illegal practice.
Here's some help:
"Title VII prohibits race/color discrimination against all persons, including Caucasians."
https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/guid...
I suggest you read up on EEO laws. What I stated is fact. Im sorry that doesn't fit your narrative.
The event post said: “Participants must be 18 years of age or older, based in the US, and identify as female, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and/or a person with a disability. Veterans are also welcome and encouraged to attend.”
Explain to me where the above language makes a solicitation to only one racial or even social group? Cuz it looks pretty broad to me. Looks to me like white male veterans or white males with disabilities were free to attend too.
And again, I’d like you to show your work here, explain to me just how it is that the NHL doesn’t provide opportunities to white men. If you’re really gonna pursue a Title VII complaint against the NHL, you’re going to have to explain how the NHL actually discriminates against them in practice. You’ll want to include as much evidence as possible (maybe more than one cherry picked example of a dumb job fair). That might be tough because I’m sure 90% or more of the NHL’s players, coaches, and management are white men.
One might even be able to argue that the NHL held that job fair to avoid a Title VII complaint.
