Dany Heatley Now A Member Of The Anaheim Ducks

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed left wing Dany Heatley to a one-year contract through the 2014-15 NHL season. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Heatley, 33 (1/21/81), has recorded 372-419=791 points with a +41 rating in 863 career NHL games with Atlanta, Ottawa, San Jose and Minnesota. A two-time 50-goal scorer, Heatley has been named to the NHL All-Star Game four times, named a First Team All-Star in 2007, a Second Team All-Star in 2006 and winner of the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league’s top rookie in 2002. Since his NHL debut in 2001-02, Heatley ranks second among NHL players in power-play goals (143), tied for fourth in game-winning goals (64) and fifth in goals (372).

Selected by Atlanta in the first round (second overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Heatley has also collected 16-47=63 points with 63 PIM in 77 career Stanley Cup Playoff games. He set postseason career highs in goals (7), assists (15) and points (22) in 2007 when he helped lead Ottawa to the Stanley Cup Final, won by Anaheim in five games. The 6-4, 220-pound winger returns to the Pacific Division where he compiled 65-81=146 points with a +22 rating and 110 PIM in 162 games with San Jose from 2009-11. In his two seasons with the Sharks, Heatley ranked second on the club in goals and assists, and third in scoring.

Born in Freiburg, Germany and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Heatley won gold with Team Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Heatley has also won gold with Canada at the 2003 and 2004 World Championships and the 2004 World Cup of Hockey. In total, he has played in two Olympics, six World Championships, one World Cup and two World Junior Championships.
