LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have acquired defenseman Rob Scuderi from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. To make room on the 23-man roster, defenseman Kevin Gravel has been assigned to Ontario.
Scuderi, 37, has played in 17 games with the Blackhawks this year, going scoreless.
The 6-1, 212-pound native of Syosset, New York has played for the Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Kings during his 12-year NHL career, including winning two Stanley Cups (2012 – Los Angeles, 2009 – Pittsburgh). In 762 career regular-season games he has 104 points (8-96=104), a plus-16 rating and 196 penalty minutes. Drafted in the fifth-round (134th overall) by Pittsburgh during the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, the two-time Stanley Cup champion has appeared in 117 playoff games overall. He has posted 14 points (1-13=14), a plus-18 rating and 26 penalty minutes during that time. Scuderi will wear #7 with the Kings.
Ehrhoff, 23, appeared in 40 games this season with the Kings, posting 10 points (2-8=10) and 32 penalty minutes. He was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent, Sept. 4, 2015.
