from Andrew Gross of Ranger Rants,
So here is what Vigneault had to say today:
On whether it’s harder to move on from that type of loss:
“For us a loss is a loss in the playoffs. To tell you the truth, none of them, whether they be in the playoffs or the regular season are easy to digest. What you’ve got to do is you’ve got to learn from the games that we’ve played and there’s definitely things we can learn from last night. You can’t stop playing on a play, that’s what happened on that last play.
The standards have been set for what’s allowed as far as hitting from behind. Ovechkin on Hickey. Last night on Boyle. We know what the standards are, play up to those standards. What else did we learn from last night? Their top line, I mean, I could say they had their way with us.
They probably had more than two thirds of their scoring chances. We need to do a better job against that line without a doubt. We need to, offensively, even though I thought we spent a lot of quality time, we created some good looks. One goal won’t cut it. We know we need to be better. There are some areas from last night’s game that we’re going to work from and we’re going to move forward. We had a good meeting this morning, practice and we’re going to move forward.”
