A Look At The Secondary Ticket Market With NHL 2015-16 Schedule Released

07/02/2015 at 11:50am EDT

By Mike Shackil,

Last week, the NHL released their full schedule for the 2015-16 season and tickets were placed on the secondary market almost immediately. With fluctuating ticket inventory at this point, prices are constantly moving, but it is still not too early for hockey fans to think about some of the premier matchups that are teed up.

With secondary market ticketing information provided by TicketNetwork.com, below are some of the highest-priced games of the season in terms of average ticket price and their get-in price. It’s worth noting that the get-in prices in this early stage are more accurate projections of what the final prices will be.

1/15/2016 | Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Chicago Blackhawks | Air Canada Centre | Average Price: $1,242.75 | Get-in Price: $356

Toronto Maple Leafs tickets on the secondary market are always some of the highest during any given week of the NHL season, especially if they’re one of the better teams in the league. The Chicago Blackhawks will also be worth the price of admission for teams who are hosting them, coming off their third Stanley Cup victory in five seasons and thus engineering a modern day hockey dynasty. This game has all the components of being one of the most expensive games of the season and will most likely stay that way as the New Year draws closer.

1/1/2016 | Boston Bruins vs. Montreal Canadiens | Gillette Stadium | Winter Classic | Average Price: $1,080.80 | Get-in Price: $549

The first day of 2016 will host one of the most anticipated NHL events of the season when the Bruins face the Canadiens in the Winter Classic. This year’s game is being played in Gillette Stadium, the home of the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. Since 2008, the Winter Classic has been a New Year’s Day tradition of sorts for the NHL and is considered a premier regular season event, with two of the league’s most popular franchises involved.

10/7/2015 | Chicago Blackhawks vs. New York Rangers | United Center | Average Price: $645.78 | Get-in Price: $273

Two of the NHL’s elite franchises square off in what could’ve been a rematch of this past season’s Stanley Cup matchup. The Rangers surprisingly lost Game 7 at home to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Finals to lose their chance at facing the Blackhawks for the Cup. Still, this regular season game will feature two of the most storied organizations the sport has to offer and will be a hot ticket throughout the season.

10/9/2015 | New York Islanders vs. Chicago Blackhawks | Barclays Center | Average Price: $627.54 | Get-in Price: $151

It’ll be interesting to keep tabs on Islanders ticket prices on the secondary market all season long. They are a team on the rise with a young core that reached the postseason in 2014-15, in what was also was their final season at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island. Now, the team shifts over to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which should create some very unique ticket activity.
