*Orr and Komi made those pink skates look more masculine than Clint Eastwood.

*The Leafs attempted 92 shots last night. Only 36 hit the net. The Leafs defense fired 17 shots from the point that were blocked. And even when they got through several of them missed the net. A lot of these missed shots came on the powerplay. The Leafs Powerplay percentage ranks 24th in the league at 11.9%. The Leafs need to hit the net if that number is to improve.

*The Leafs had 3 Powerplays in the First period last night. Ron Wilson decided to start his 2nd unit on each opportunity with the man advantage, to spark his secondary scoring. Phil Kessel’s unit played only 20 more seconds of PPTOI than the Leafs’ 2nd unit, even though Kessel’s unit has averaged more than 90 seconds of PPTOI on the season. Wilson can’t try to generate secondary scoring by sacrificing TOI for his primary scoring and bet best player. The Leafs should not have gone into the 1st intermission down 1-0.

*Kulemin, McArthur, Grabovski and Versteeg combined for 4 shots on net last night. The secondary issue will solve itself the minute the 4 of them quit making the extra pass and just shooting more.

*Phil Kessel did not get a SOG last night, but the number is misleading. Kessel manufactured some of the Leafs’ best scoring chances last night.

*The Leafs need to get more traffic in front of the net. The Rangers won majority of the battles in front of the crease, boxing out the Leafs many times. King Henry isn’t going to let anything in if there is nothing between him and the shooter.

*Luke Schenn is quickly becoming the Leafs’ best defensemen. Yet he is 4th in TOI among D-men averaging 22:29 per game. Expect that number to increase more and more as the season goes on. As Ron Wilson says, if you go into a corner with Schenn, you are not coming out with the puck.

*Francois Beauchemin needs to be better in the offensive zone. He has struggled to hold the point and to get the puck in deep when necessary.

*Mike Zigomanis needs to become a mainstay on the Leafs’ 4th line. He is one of the Leafs’ best energy players and forecheckers.

*The Leafs have not scored a goal in 122 minutes and 24 seconds.
