The best of the rest - UFAs play the waiting game

In the summer of inaction we saw Kovalchuk sign, unsign, and then sign again. We saw players head to Russia. We saw Canadiens forward Glen Metropolit, and Islanders stalwart Richard Park head to Switzerland. But more than anything, we saw unrestricted free agent after unrestricted free agent after – wait for it – unrestricted free agent remain unsigned. And don’t even get me started on the RFA players still sitting at home without a contract. 

So who’s left?

Without further ado, The Upper Canadien presents the best of the rest – ten players left as unrestricted free agents who could step in and make a difference across the NHL.

Can’t put a Price on a few days off

Well, it’s August 27th and, despite some serious questions in the free agency market, I’m going on vacation. Why? Because it’s soon going to be cold, and I’ll be complaining that I miss summer. And I can’t complain about it if I spend the last few days of summer sitting around waiting for Carey Price to sign a contract.

So, I’ll be off for a few days, but I will periodically check in, and if there’s movement, I’ll be commenting. But maybe not as quickly. When not commenting I’ll be by the lake reading my new Forecaster magazine.

This also likely means that as soon as I hit the road the Canadiens will announce Price has been signed. That’s generally how things work for me.

We shall see.
