Well, it’s been pretty quiet on the Winnipeg Jets front these days - yes, there have been some minor goings-on, and in a hockey-starved town like this one any small development gets some big play. Personally, I’m don’t think I have the ability to hang on every tiny detail over the summer - it might actually drive me nuts. Until I start seeing some real Jets jerseys on some real Jets players, I’m going to keep enjoying the warm Winnipeg summer - the calm before the storm. We’ve waited fifteen years - what’s a couple more months?

Kovalev and Zherdev Both Turned Down NHL Offers in Favor of KHL

Alex Kovalev and Nikolay Zherdev, two talented forwards who signed deals with the KHL’s Atlant Mytishchi in recent days, both say they turned down NHL offers in the process.
The 38-year-old Kovalev, one of the greatest Russian-born players in NHL history and a veteran of the country’s other professional leagues, signed a two-year deal with on July 29.
An unrestricted free agent, Kovalev said he had two NHL offers but turned them down because of the KHL contract’s extra year, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Dmitry Chesnokov.
