Videos- While The Avs’ Matt Calvert Bleeds, The Vancouver Canucks Score
by Paul on 11/17/19 at 07:40 AM ET

from Ryan S. Clark of The Athletic,
The hockey world watched Calvert take a shot off the back of his head seconds before the Vancouver Canucks scored a goal.
But the Colorado Avalanche saw something else. They watched another teammate laying on the ice, bleeding – again – after being hit in the head with the puck while play was allowed to continue. They viewed what happened to Calvert as a player safety issue and one that should have resulted in the game immediately stopping so a player could receive immediate medical attention.
Escaping Rogers Arena with a 5-4 overtime win Saturday did not matter because all they could think about was Calvert.
“It’s a *#$%@& joke man and I’ve talked about it already,” said Avalanche alternate captain and defenseman Erik Johnson, who was referencing a postgame radio interview he gave with the team’s flagship station that also needed to be censored on a seven-second tape delay. “Like, you want to protect a guy? The guy’s got a family at home. He’s laying there bleeding out of his head and they don’t blow the *#$%@& whistle? It’s a complete joke. It’s an absolute joke and they should be ashamed of themselves.”

Matt Calvert’s Night
by Paul on 11/19/16 at 08:04 AM ET

from Aaron Portzline of Puck-Rakers at the Columbus Dispatch,
Matt Calvert stood at his locker stall after the game, a Civil War-style kepi on his head, a bandage across his forehead and a growing welt around his right eye -- as if he just walked off the set of Glory.
Calvert wore something else, too: a smile.
The Blue Jackets’ third-line speedster left Friday’s 4-2 win over the New York Rangers midway through the second period after he was struck in the face by a slap shot, opening a nasty cut over his right eyebrow.
He returned to a rousing ovation from a crowd of 14,541 in Nationwide Arena early in the third period, then scored the game-winning short-handed goal – the Jackets’ first shorty this season – with 11:45 remaining to give the Blue Jackets' a signature win.
Two videos below, Calvert takes a puck to his head and the game-winning goal...

"For serious," Columbus defeated Pittsburgh 4-3 in double overtime, tying the teams' first-round series at one--and the Blue Jackets rallied from a 3-1 deficit en route to their first playoff win:
Matt Calvert had 2 goals, David Savard had 2 assists, as Don Cherry pointed out, Brandon Dubinsky had 9 shots and 8 hits, and both goaltenders were stellar--Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 41 of 44 and Sergei Bobrovsky(!) stopped 39 of 42 in his victory.
