Capitals Sign Sabourin

ARLINGTON, VA. – The Washington Capitals have signed unrestricted free agent goaltender Dany Sabourin to a one-year contract, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Sabourin, who will turn 30 on Sept. 2, played 43 games in the NHL in 2007-08 and ’08-09 while with the Penguins, posting a 16-17-3 record in that time. This season marked the first time since the 2004-05 work stoppage that he didn’t play at least one game at the NHL level. He was named the AHL’s top goaltender in 2005-06 when he led the league with a 2.26 goals-against average with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins

Penguins Trade For Mathieu Garon

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired goaltender Mathieu Garon from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for goaltender Dany Sabourin, forward Ryan Stone and a fourth round draft pick in the 2011 Entry Draft, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero.
