No penalty on the play, was it an elbow Duncan Keith threw at Ruslan Salei?

Well that one’s pretty inexcusable. Must be no penalty cause it wasn’t blindside, right? Yeesh

It was either an elbow or a forearm—either way, it was a high hit.

Elbow..my ass
That was a deliberate attempt to injure.

There were a lot of cheap shots today (in this game and around the league). Rosby took a run at PK Suban, giving him a high hit in the face.

It just doesn’t get any more flagrant than that hit. Keith raised his elbow well before he got to Salei and he clearly aimed it at his head. So much for the idea that this is the year the league puts a stop to hits to the head.
This is from a story last May about the new rule…
...the new rule will give the NHL Hockey Operations Department the power to go over any hit to the head and, if necessary, apply ’supplementary discipline’.
In short, the NHL will be looking at any hit to the head that may be considered dangerous or intentional. If the NHL deems the given hit to the head was the intended target, they now have the power to throw the book at the offender.
Now we’ll see if these rules apply to everyone or if Lil’ Gary’s chosen teams get a pass when their star players are involved.

Definitely a high elbow but it won’t go to review because EA coverboys are infallible.

Would the NHL deal with this differently if it were the defending stanley cup champion atlanta thrashers? Do buttugly and eager get the same free passes?

Please tell me the league at leas takes a look at that play.

I’d be surprised. The FSD crew is the only one that picked up on it. No penalty, and no mention of it post game.

Boy, it sure didn’t take long for the biased calls to start, now did it?

There were a lot of missed calls and one bad call against Detroit last night. The team has endured much worse. This specific elbow SHOULD be reviewed, but it won’t be. Hopefully, karma will be a bitch to the blackhawks and they’ll elbow each other ala winchester on jansson.

Never thought Keith was much of a dirty player…
Apparently I was mistaken. Wonder if someone will be keeping a closer eye on him now?

I’m stuck with the Chicago broadcast and was shocked when I saw that elbow. Needless to say, the Chi guys didn’t say much of anything about it. They did do a fair job in clearing Rafalski on his holding penalty. They weren’t total homers.
