from Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun,
Hundreds of thousands of fans missed it because the NHL allowed television to have its way because of the money. It proved to be against their own best interests.
At 8:46 p.m., on Friday in Calgary — 10:46 p.m., in the Eastern time zone and after midnight in Newfoundland — the puck was dropped on one of the most memorable Stanley Cup playoff games the new generation of the hockey nations could ever expect to witness.
But that’s OK, because the name of the show Friday was, “Late Night With Connor McDavid.”
With the way it all worked out, there’s going to be a whole lot more to come in this series and a spectacular scene waiting as the Pacific Division final shifts north to Edmonton for Game 3 and 4.
What those time zone-affected fans missed Friday was the greatest player on the planet playing yet another Stanley Cup playoff game at a level beyond what he’s achieved before to inspire and lead the Edmonton Oilers to twice come back from 2-0 deficits and win Game 2, by two.
