from Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch,
The four-year, $15million contract Umberger signed with the Blue Jackets in 2008, shortly after he was acquired in a trade with Philadelphia, expires after the 2011-12 season. As such, he can sign a contract extension as soon as this coming July1.
Umberger said he plans to meet with his agent in the next couple of weeks to “reflect on the last couple of years, talk about upcoming years and see what’s possible.”
Clearly, the expectation is that the Blue Jackets will try to extend Umberger’s contract before the final year expires.
But what is Umberger thinking?
