What To Do With Marc-Andre Fleury?

from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN,

The GM spoke a bit with Fleury this week. "We met briefly, but not really in depth as to what the situation is,’’ said Rutherford.

The bottom line is this: I don't think there are enough starts in Pittsburgh to appease both goalies. Would Fleury like to figure out his future this summer, or is he willing to wait another year until the expansion draft? One would think he’d want this settled now. But I don’t know that. Fleury has a full no-move clause and a partial no-trade clause, so his camp has a say in his future.

Teams looking for a starting goalie -- hello Calgary Flames! -- should consider Fleury. While the Anaheim Ducks' Frederik Andersen is appealing because he’s only 26 and still growing into a No. 1, he’s not accomplished like Fleury, who has two Cups under his belt and is coming off a regular season during which he was once again a top-five goalie in the league.

I think we can all agree that Rutherford should hold onto Fleury, at least until after he sees what Jimmy Howard fetches.

Why so he can get a good laugh in and get his head straight before getting 4x as much?

Yeah, Fleury certainly has two cups under his belt. Especially the one from this spring. That’s totally on Fleury smile

Yeah, because one overpaid starter who lost his job is going to get 4x as much as another.

I think you guys might be a little fan-boy blind.  Maybe Holland oughta see what Reimer fetches first.

Pitt would be crazy to ship him out and go with murray. Kid had a good run but is that his norm? Just look at what’s his name in ottawa a couple seasons ago. Did great then craig Anderson win the job back the next year.

It’s about value, though. Murray has been rock solid all through his career before the NHL. Is it worth holding on to Fleury and his considerable cap hit?

Every other nhl goalie has been rock solid before their nhl career. That’s how they get to the nhl. Maybe pitt decides to move him but they may want to wait until sometime during the season.
