from Mike Chambers of the Denver Post,
For the second consecutive year, the Avalanche officially has regressed and the relationship between leading scorer Matt Duchene and his coach appears to have soured.
Colorado will not reach 90 points, the amount it finished with last season — after a magnificent 112-point campaign of 2013-14 in coach Patrick Roy's rookie season — and Roy called out Duchene after Sunday's disheartening 5-1 loss to the playoff-bound St. Louis Blues that dropped the Avs to 17-19-4 at the Pepsi Center.
In a 4-0 game with 4:14 remaining, Duchene broke the shutout with his 30th goal, the first time he has reached that milestone. The Avs, who have lost five of their last six games, can reach a maximum of only 88 points.
"The reaction of Dutchy after he scores — it's a 4-0 (game). Big cheer. Are you kidding me," Roy said. "What is that? It's not the 'reflect' that we want from our guys. Not at all."
Below, watch Duchene's goal and Roy's postgame presser...
