Simon Despres played a solid, physical game that was clean but he wound up on the receiving end of a cross check to the head by Avs captain Gabriel Landeskog in the third period. Despres already missed 42 games because of a concussion at the hands of Tyson Barrie on October so he wasn’t happy about the hit at all. Landeskog already has a two-game suspension this season for an illegal check to the head and that could be factored in if supplementary discipline results from it. Looking at the video, it wasn’t a smart play at all and could prove costly to him and Colorado as it fights to get in the playoffs.
