Video- New York Islanders Take Game 1 Of The Stanley Cup Semi-Finals

As I said in the open post for the game, the Islanders played their game, the Tampa Bay Lightning did not and I'll add could not.

Tampa is going to need to make some adjustments.

Final score 2-1.

Game highlights are below.

Best game all season the Isles have played.  I thought Scott Mayfield and Nick Leddy played so well.  Tampa is so scary - Isles better pot more goals and do better on the power play….

But Game 1 was fun!

Tampa is soft. Keep hitting them and making them fight for every inch. Isles outplayed them last year but couldn’t score, it looks like that may not be a problem this year.

The way to best the lightning may just be to keep them under 2 goals.

I watched the game at the Cadieux Cafe. NYI were great. It would be phenomenal if Anders could play. Go Kas! Go Isles!

That was way more entertaining than I expected. Absolutely ferocious forecheck by the Islanders, Tampa’s D looked helpless, coughing up pucks left and right. Go Isles!

Amazing how much Lou L. has stamped his name onto the NHL. Boring, defensive hockey in 1995, same in 2021. Ugh.

NYI are cup hungry, bought in, dialed in, Tampa didn’t bring the same hunger on each line on each shift.  Amazing to me how non-existent Stamkos has been, and Hedman is playing hurt and while he’s still a great player, his greatness is limited.  Vasilevskiy might have to carry his team, which is surprising to think about. Game 2 might decide the series early
