Many of you know Mario Lemieux had a great hockey career (hockey-reference.com) and was one of the greatest players to ever play in the NHL.
So on this slow summer night enjoy the 24 minute presentation on Mario Lemieux.

MC, no offense taken and over the years I have posted numerous Gordie Howe videos and am sure one was the Legends video.
Gordie was my idol growing up in Detroit but I really don’t want to over do it if you know what I mean.
Last week I posted the Glenn Hall feature on Legends and have a few more to toss up in the near future.

I understand completely; must have missed those (somehowe). I have had the pleasure of watching both Howe and Hall’s episodes (and Lindsay, Gretzky, Dryden, Giacomin, Beliveau, Kelly, Bower, Kennedy, Espo etc). Can’t recommend the entire series enough; in every sense of the word, it’s truly eye-opening.
Same with me about #9: during the ‘08 playoffs, I had the pleasure of telling Mr Howe that I became a Red Wings fan because of him and Ferris Beuller’s Day Off (raised near Chicago). I was wearing one of my oldest Howe jersey that I had long since physically outgrown (looked like a softball jersey). After hearing him say “Nice jersey!”, I asked him if my father could take a pic of us shaking hands. He said “No, I like this better”. He then proceeded to punch me in the face, but only for the picture. Phew!

Mario Lemieux came back to the NHL after a 3 year hiatus when he was 36 years old.
He scored 229 points in 170 games from age 36 through 40, which is a 1.35 point per game clip.
Sidney Crosby is at a 1.39 clip for his career. Alex Ovechkin is at 1.19.
That’s amazing, and part of the reason why Mario is the best ever.

No ill will to either you, Paul, or Lemieux, but why not start off a “Legends of Hockey” series with Gordie Howe in these summer doldrums?
