The defenceman who had the toughest night was Jeff Petry. He was minus-2 when he was rocked by a hard check from Jamie Benn late in the second period. Petry left the game with an upper-body injury. Therrien said he didn’t know the severity of the injury, but it’s unlikely Petry will dress for the coming games Monday in Nashville and Tuesday in Minnesota.

In the third, Comeau nailed Brandon Davidson with his stick and he tumbled into the boards in the neutral zone. Comeau got away with a penalty and Davidson didn’t come back. “When he cross-checked him hard he hurt his ribs,” said McLellan, when asked if it was his back that got hurt after crashing into the wall.
