Video- Hits You May Have Missed Last Night

via Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer,

About a minute before Pavelski’s first goal, Brent Burns leveled Chris VandeVelde, lowering his shoulder into his face and causing him to hit the ice hard. No penalty was called, much to the disbelief of Flyers coach Dave Hakstol.

"In my opinion, it's a direct contact to the head. A guy that's engaged with another player without the puck," Hakstol said. "...That needs to be called."

After the game, VandeVelde said he felt "OK." He did not return to the game after the hit, with about eight minutes left.

Chris Neil gets two for charging and Bobby Farnham is surprised by an embellishment call, watch below...

from Rich Chere of NJ.com,

With just under six minutes remaining in the second period of Wednesday night's 3-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre, Farnham vaulted into the air as he attempted to avoid an open-ice hit from defenseman Erik Karlsson.

His effort got him a minor penalty for embellishment.

"That bothers me. That's not a call you ever want to get on you and I don't think that was a fair call, to be honest with you," Farnham said. "You just have to kind of take your medicine and the team did a great job of killing it off."

Farnham, who wound up suffering a charley horse to his thigh when he was hit by Karlsson, said he was simply trying to avoid what could have been a devastating collision for both players.

"I was just trying to avoid a knee-on-knee collision there," he explained. "It wasn't anything I thought was malicious by him at all. I was just trying to get out of the way and he happened to clip my leg when he stuck his butt out."
