Predators general manager David Poile said Thursday he currently has no sight in his right eye, the result of injuries suffered when he was struck by an errant puck earlier this month.
Poile, 64, spoke to reporters for the first time since the incident, which occurred at the team’s morning skate on Feb. 6 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. He has since undergone three operations on his eye, nose and face, two in St. Paul and one in Nashville at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
“I fractured my nose in three different places, the orbital bone was broken above and below the eye, they have taken the stitches out and done a fabulous job there,” Poile said during a brief press conference at Bridgestone Arena. “The downside at this point is the right eye, I have no sight in my right eye. The doctors are still holding hope that some sight will come back there, but at the moment, that’s where we are.”
