Normally I would say some of the onus is on Krug to not put himself in a vulnerable position.  But in this particular case, Paquette had PLENTY of time to see Krug was in a vulnerable spot, and could easily have let up on the hit.  Or even just poke check the puck. 

What ticks me off about this though is the Boston guy getting a penalty after going after Paquette.  If the NHL doesn’t want retaliation for hits like this, they really need to give Game Misconducts and multiple game suspensions to the guys doing the hits.  Otherwise it’s just going to keep getting worse because no one is going to stick up for their teammate who just got hit.

I agree, that is a really good idea. Coaches won’t be happy losing a player for a game and/or more for collecting multiple game misconducts.

Now what could be wrong with your idea?  Seems too simple even for NHLPA and the Owners, or Bettman
