via the Thrashers PR,
STATEMENT FROM THE THRASHERS:
Ondrej Pavelec was released from the hospital yesterday following two days of testing. Preliminary results indicate Ondrej had a neurocardiogenic syncope episode (a type of fainting spell), which caused him to fall and hit his head on the ice, leading to the subsequent concussion and loss of consciousness. He was cleared to return home following a battery of testing on his heart and brain. For precautionary measures, he is undergoing further tests on his heart as well as blood and genetic testing this week. If all goes as expected, he will be medically cleared following those results and will be available to resume playing at the conclusion of any symptoms from his concussion.
STATEMENT FROM PAVELEC:I want to thank all the doctors, trainers and emergency personnel who took such good care of me. I would also like to thank my teammates, all the fans and everyone in the hockey community who have reached out to me and offered their support and well-wishes over the last few days. I hope to be back in action as soon as possible.

I’m hopeful they don’t find anything further wrong with him. Glad to hear that he’s ok.

At least he’s back home now. Hopefully not finding anything obviously wrong doesn’t comes in the future to haunt him. Good luck to him.

Atlanta has some of the best hospitals in the country. He got real good care.
Glad he’s okay.

it’s a non-diagnosis and a fancy way to describe his symptom. No one can say what causes this. They might has well have said vasovagal syncope - it’s an older term that means the same thing. Something happens and the body shuts down to protect itself.
