from Josh Cooper of The Tennessean,
Hutton, making his first start since Dec. 27, stopped 23 of 25 shots on goal. But it was how the Hurricanes scored that bothered Trotz.
Semin’s goal 4:28 into the first period was banked off the back side of Hutton and into the net. It seemed Hutton had it cut off, but when asked whether the net was indeed sealed off, Trotz said, “It’s in the net, so no would be my answer.”
Said Hutton: “He made a quick play and ended up in the back of the net. I didn’t think there was any holes there, but he made a good play, and that’s one you don’t want to get scored on.”
Trotz said Skinner’s game-winning wrister “wasn’t much of a shot at all.”
Said Hutton: “I didn’t see it. (David Legwand) went in front of him, then he shot around him and it came through and just found a hole.”
Trotz said that Hutton’s performance was “not good enough for this league.” Hutton was signed in the offseason to be a backup goaltender. The Predators have been without starter Pekka Rinne since late October as he recovers from a hip infection.
