The Chicago Blackhawks On Patrick Kane

I am watching the training camp press conference of the Chicago Blackhawks and t in attendance where Chicago Blackhawks president & CEO John McDonough, vice president/general manager Stan Bowman and head coach Joel Quenneville. Patrick Kane is also at the conference.

John McDonough says Patrick Kane will join the team at training camp.

Patrick Kane apologizes for the issues, will not comment on legal process but confident he has not done anything wrong and it will be proven.

More tweets added below at 3:33pm,

Kane is not answering any questions about the accusations or legal process.

Kane asked if he is going to stop drinking, says he cannot answer that because of the legal process.

That’s really the only way to handle it, state your innocence, acknowledge respect for the legal process, and then clam the f**k up.

Without a doubt, he’s a douche, but think about it: what should his answer be?

“Yes, I’m going to quit drinking because I break laws and get arrested when I do.”

or

“No, I’m not going to quit drinking because I love it and don’t have a problem.”

Both are undesirable statements (legally and/or factually).

“I will be absolved of having done nothing wrong.”

I, uh, don’t think those words used in that order mean what you think they mean, Patty.

There is one thing which remains unanswered regarding Kane.  As he states he did nothing wrong, so why didn’t he continue his normal routine over the summer instead of basically going into hiding?

Maybe he was advised to, I just don’t know.

Of of course he was. As he should have been.

Regardless of culpability, we all know that he’d have been hounded non-stop, and that wouldn’t have played in his favor. In addition to the extremely high likelihood of him eventually saying something stupid in front of the media, the act of carrying on as if everything was normal would have appeared callous wrt the (alleged) victim and the seriousness of the potential charges, which would not play well in front of the grand jury.
