The Anaheim Ducks May Look For Help After Injuries To Matt Beleskey And Sami Vatanen

via the Anaheim Ducks,

Ducks winger Matt Beleskey is out 2-4 weeks with an upper-body injury, and defenseman Sami Vatanen is out 4-6 weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced today.
Both injuries were suffered in the first period of Sunday night's 5-3 defeat to the Washington Capitals at Honda Center.

The 26-year-old Beleskey has a career-high 21 goals in 56 games with the Ducks this season, including an NHL-best eight game-winning goals.

The 23-year-old Vatanen has 12 goals and 22 assists in 57 games games this season. His 34 points lead all Ducks defensemen and rank him fourth on the team overall.

via Pierre LeBrun of ESPN,

The Ducks were already looking at the blue-line market, but now, with a minute-eating defenseman like Vatanen (third on team at 21:40 minutes per game) and a scorer like Beleskey (21 goals) gone for a while, I’m guessing Ducks general manager Bob Murray will look more aggressively to add a piece both on the back end and up front. There's no official announcement yet about exactly how long Vatanen and Beleskey will be out, but it doesn’t sound good.

All these D injuries on teams right before deadline crunch is gonna make things interesting. Any D man worth atleast a look is gonna disappear before KH decides whether he will or wont. And of course I don’t say make a trade just to make a trade, but the D market asking price is now inflated. Most definitely due to all the injuries here lately across the league. I think this is whats going to keep KH from making a deal, and then all of us 19 griping when we hear a different team got a guy for a bag of pucks.

Still makes me think alot of GM’s around the league simply don’t even want to deal with Kenny.

Problem is that the prices will go up now, not down.  He should’ve made a move already.

David Poile knows what’s up.

Yep Garth and this may be a good example why selling teams wait until the last minute.

Have to think Toronto may have received a better package if they waited to trade Franson.
