Team USA vs. Team Canada Tonight

from USA Hockey,

The United States and Canada are meeting for the 45th time in IIHF World Junior Championship play. All-time, the U.S. is 8-1-3-29-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) against Canada.

Last Saturday (Dec. 31), Team USA defeated Canada, 3-1, behind a three-point performance from Jordan Greenway (Canton, N.Y./Boston University) and 25 save effort by Joseph Woll (St. Louis, Mo./Boston College). Ryan Lindgren (Minneapolis, Minn./University of Minnesota) was named the U.S. Player of the Game.

Tonight marks the fifth gold medal-game appearance for the U.S. and the fourth time its opponent will be Canada. All-time, the U.S. holds a 3-1 record in gold medal games with its last appearance being in 2013 when Team USA claimed a 3-1 victory over Sweden for its third ever gold medal in the World Junior Championship.

In its three meetings versus Canada, the U.S. is 2-1. After falling to Canada, 2-0, in the 1997 gold medal-game, the U.S. topped Canada in thrilling fashion both in 2004 (4-3 W) and 2010 (6-5 OTW).

I wonder if they’ll be able to fill the arena for this one.

I’ve been reading about horrible ratings and whatnot for the event.  Wish they would do a better job at broadcasting it here in the States.  All that “grow the game” crap is a bunch of garbage if you’re only broadcasting it on NHLNetwork.

Someone who doesn’t have the NHLN anymore and can’t watch one of his favorite tournaments.
